Occupational therapy (OT) is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and well-being through occupation. OT is defined with its holistic approach meaning the Physical, Social, Emotional, Psychological and Environmental aspect of every patient is taken into consideration within the process of Occupational Therapy treatment rehabilitation.

Occupational Therapy has the PEO approach, which stands for person environment and occupation. This basically means that every human being is seen in a complete context of one’s environment and occupations.
The primary goal of occupational Therapy is to enable people to participate in their activities of everyday life. (ADL activities)

Occupational therapy is an allied health profession that evaluates and treats clients of all ages with physical, cognitive, neurological, and perceptual disorders/disease/injury/ impairment as a result of accident, trauma, surgery, or natural causes. Occupational Therapy promotes and assist them to regain independence in all areas of their lives.

Occupational therapy is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory OT cognitive problems. OT helps and assist them to regain independence in all areas of their lives.
Some examples of the focus of Occupational Therapy are:

  • Self-care

  • Productivity

  • Leisure

  • All in all, I wish to conclude Occupational Therapy is treating patients on all levels of social, emotional, physical and psychological problem areas with the ultimate goal reintegrate them back into their environment (work, home) for them to be able to reach their best participation in their lives again.
