There are many heart diseases which may have symptoms like palpitations- awareness of own heart beats- or even syncope where the patient suddenly loses his/her consciousness, syncope is a quit serious symptom and the patient requires urgent medical attention.
Heart attack is due to a blockage in one of the coronary arteries supplying the heart itself with blood that carries oxygen and nutrients. If this blockage artery was not reopened quickly and the blood flow to the heart muscle was not restored timely, this part of the heart muscle supplied by the blocked artery will eventually die. Many diseases like hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol if not treated probably can lead to heart attack, cigarette smoking is also a strong factor for developing heart attack.
Pain in the chest, which is usually more to the left side of the chest and can be felt going to the left shoulder, jaw, or arm. This pain can be experienced as heaviness, burning or a tight band around the chest, and may be associated with sweating, nausea, vomiting, light- headedness or abnormal heart beats.
